‘Tis the season for Latin funk – and a free mp3 download!

Halloween is a near-distant memory. The turkey leftovers are all done for. Black Friday is like a nightmare that you wish you never had. Cyber Monday…well, meh. The holidays are here, folks! Much like the annual visit from the aunt and uncle you only see at Christmastime, it’s time for Electric Piquete’s annual giveaway of the band’s holiday single, a free mp3 download of “Little Conga Boy“.

Originally recorded in time for the 2012 holiday season at DJ Le Spam‘s City of Progress Studio, the track is based on the holiday standard “Little Drummer Boy”, but with the bands familiar Latin funk sound applied. It was produced and mixed by DJ Le Spam and in addition to band members Ed Rosado (drums and arrangement), Michael Mut (bass), Chris Correoso (guitar), and Rich Dixon (trumpet and flugelhorn), the track also features the following special guests:

Raymond Ayala – timbales
Ozzy Reyes – tenor sax
Daniel Jimenez – keyboards
Emilio Turros – congas
Steven Ayala – quinto

In other EP news: the band is looking to get back into the recording studio to cut it’s next single, a smooth, soulful funk collaboration with vocalist Maco Monthervil. Work on the basic tracks will begin mid-December and the band plans to finish in January and release the song, which is now called “Cut Me Loose”, sometime in early February.
